Abstract

This article presents estimates of the transportation satellite accounts (TSAs) for 1996, which update the 1992 TSAs. Like the 1992 TSAs, the 1996 TSAs are based on, and are an extension of, the input-output (I-O) accounts; they are constructed by rearranging the I-O data and by adding information from other sources of transportation data. The TSAs identify and aggregate detailed estimates on transportation activities and present the estimates by industry and commodity. This information can provide answers to a variety of questions that deal with the relationship between transportation, industry, and economics.
