In practise it is difficult to separate recycled aggregates made of concrete of varying strengths in a reliable manner for re-use. In order to examine the properties of fresh and hardened concrete, tests were conducted on two concrete compositions. Recycled aggregates made of mature concrete of two compressive strengths, B = 20 and 55 N/sq.m, as well as recycled aggregates containing asphalt granulate, crushed bricks and other components, a so-called practice mix, were used. The tests showed that the strength of the mature concrete has no significant effect on the strength of recycled aggregates or the properties of fresh and hardened concrete.
