Abstract

The precision, position, and timing information provided by Global Positioning System (GPS) technology is essential for various commercial and military applications, including navigation systems for smartwatches, ships, drones, and autonomous vehicles. However, GPS technology is vulnerable to spoofing and jamming attacks due to its open design, which can have significant consequences. To mitigate the vulnerability of GPS technology to spoofing and jamming attacks, this paper proposes a subspace projection-based mitigation scheme. The scheme involves a systematic approach in which the line signal is projected to an orthogonal subspace and used in the conventional Direction of Arrival estimation using Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in mitigating these attacks.
