Abstract

This article provides a feasible solution to locate a target in nonline-of-sight (NLOS) area, which includes a robust NLOS target positioning algorithm based on millimeter-wave radar (MMW-radar) and corresponding hardware system design based on quad-copter. At the hardware level, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with MMW-radar is developed, and an experimental environment under strong reflection conditions for simulating an urban environment is built in this article. At the algorithmic level, an NLOS target positioning method for urban areas based on MMW-radar operating in the 77-GHz frequency band is utilized to detect hidden targets. Specifically, this article provides methods to eliminate clutters, associate existing traces, and build traces. Furthermore, a geometric correct method is designed to map preliminary locating results into the real environment. Finally, our comparative experiment shows the proposed method can locate NLOS targets accurately on the UAV platform, and filter various clutters well.
