• Olive waste was used as a partial replacement for natural sand in structural concrete. • Mixture workability is mainly affected by the saturation state and the percentage of substitution. • The compressive and tensile strength decreased as the amount of Olive waste in the mixture increased. • The addition of Olive waste aggregates reduces the thermal conductivity of concrete. • Laboratory tests showed that the elaborated lightened concrete could be used as building material.
