Abstract

High-Performance Zinc–Sulfur Batteries High-performance Zn-S battery is achieved by employing a hybrid electrolyte using low-cost protic solvent (ethylene glycol) as the co-solvent in water. The designed hybrid electrolyte can regulate water activity and suppress sulfur side reactions in aqueous electrolytes, forming an in-situ solid state inter-phase (SEI) layer on the Zn anode to facilitate reversible Zn stripping/plating. In addition, the reversible multi-step sulfur redox reaction is revealed in the such hybrid electrolyte. More details can be found in article number 2207133 by Madhavi Srinivasan and co-workers.
