The combination of two different biscatecholate ligands with GaIII ions gives rise to twelve different assemblies (shown schematically), which are all simultaneously present in solution. These were characterized by ESI-FTICR mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy. Even larger libraries are obtained by using an increasing number of components.
