Abstract Methods described in this paper facilitated the rapid characterization of porcine immunoglobulins and the development of class-specific antisera. The methods are generally applicable to the immunoglobulins of any species. In this paper, data are presented which demonstrate that the sera of adult swine contain IgG, IgM and IgA. IgG appears to consist of at least three, and possibly four, subclasses.
