Abstract

This paper investigates the radiated emissions from a buck-boost converter with a metal alloy inductor which is identified as the radiated emissions noise source in the 150 kHz to 30 MHz frequency range. The radiated emission prediction technique based on the inductor CM/DM model is proposed to analyze and predict the electric field in the space based on electrostatic theory. The inductor CM model is identified as the dominant contributor to radiated emissions. Due to the experiment setup of CISPR25, the chamber resonance behavior will occur from several MHz and the impact of chamber resonance on RE prediction should be considered in RE prediction. The proposed prediction technique is verified and experiments.
