<i>S. constellatus</i> may cause pneumonia and lung abscess first and then spread to cause empyema mainly in old males with comorbid diseases. <i>S. constellatus</i> often co-isolated with anaerobes in empyema. Antibiotics should cover simultaneously both <i>S. constellatus</i> and anaerobes.
