A total of 1,592 serum specimens from Army recruits and other selected population groups in Malaysia were examined for the presence of Pseudomonas pseudomallei antibodies with a hemagglutination (HA) test. The percentage of serum specimens with an HA-antibody titer of 1:40 or greater ranged from 1.9 to 15.8. The highest prevalence of antibodies was found in persons residing in rice-growing areas.
