Despite the substantial impact of rotavirus vaccine introduction, rotavirus remained the leading cause of paediatric diarrhoea hospitalisations. Improving the efficacy and coverage of rotavirus vaccination and prioritising interventions against <i>Shigella</i>, norovirus and adenovirus could further reduce diarrhoea morbidity and mortality.
