Abstract

Abstract Pecan [ Carya illinoensis (Wang) K. Koch] seedlings in their first year of growth were treated weekly with 14 CO 2 for one growing season, then reciprocally grafted with untreated seedlings, and tops and roots were autoradiographed during shoot elongation the following season. Translocation of 14 C labelled substrates was acropetal. The root was the major storage organ for reserve substrates.
