While elevated CSF protein is merely a weak indicator of blood CSF barrier dysfunction, the presence of inflammatory CSF changes and novel brain autoantibodies in CSF may indicate OCD subtypes with inflammatory pathomechanism and supports the hypothesis of a rare "autoimmune OCD" subtype.
