Abstract

In this article, a reliability model for the multi-component system subject to dependent competing failure processes considering multiple shock sources is presented. For a single component, soft failure occurs when the sum of natural degradation and instantaneous degradation increment is greater than the soft failure threshold. The soft failure reliability model is established using the degradation-threshold interference model. The hard failure model is developed using the phase-type distribution survival function. Then, system reliability is derived based on the history of shocks from all shock sources. Finally, the reliability model is demonstrated by a numerical example.
