Kanalisierung einer Polymerisation: Dipeptidkristalle wurden als „Reaktoren“ für Polymerisationen verwendet. Die Monomere werden in den porösen Kristallen absorbiert, und anschließende γ-Bestrahlung erzeugt Polymere mit hohen Molekulargewichten. Die Kristallkanäle bewirken einen stereoselektiven Reaktionsverlauf, der 1,4-trans-Polydiene und isotaktisches Polyacrylnitril mit entsprechender Fasermorphologie liefert (siehe Schema).
