Quadratisch, praktisch, gut: Zwei quadratisch-planare High-Spin-{MO4}-Komplexe wurden hergestellt, darunter das erste molekulare Beispiel mit M=CoII (siehe Struktur). Die Bestimmung der Strukturen, spektroskopischen Eigenschaften und magnetischen Suszeptibilitäten ermöglicht eine Spezifizierung der Ligandmerkmale, die für diese äußerst ungewöhnliche elektronische Struktur erforderlich sind.
