Ice Electrets

Abstract

Both heterocharged and homocharged electrets have been made from common ice at reduced temperatures. Partially charged ice samples exhibit multiple dielectric relaxation times. Discharge measurements show that the Gross theory of heterocharge is applicable to electrets of ice. The dielectric relaxation found by Auty and Cole does not explain heterocharge in ice.
