The physiological basics of wound healing

Abstract

Nurses regularly take the lead in wound management. They should have a good general knowledge of the normal structure and function of skin. This article outlines the process of wound healing to enhance wound care practice. Normal anatomy of the skin is described followed by a review of the four phases of wound healing.
