A projector formulation for the Van Vleck transformation

Abstract

Abstract The formulation of part I is extended to cover also the case where the zeroth-order hamiltonian has near-degenerate eigenvalues in the subspace to be isolated by the transformation. Three different approaches are used, and a comparison is made between the degenerate approach and the method of denominator corrections.
