Gold auf nanokristallinem Ceroxid katalysiert die Homokupplung von Phenylboronsäure-Derivaten in Gegenwart der Base K2CO3 hoch aktiv und selektiv (siehe Schema). Au3+-Spezies werden als aktive Zentren postuliert, und Wasser ist erforderlich, um Hydroxygruppen an der Oberfläche zu erzeugen, die die Boronsäure aktivieren.
