Di(arylethynyl)bis(trimethylphosphine)platinum(II): a new series of liquid-crystalline materials

Abstract

Various derivatives of the title complexes have been synthesized and demonstrated to form stable mesomorphic phases. They provide a new family of thermotropic liquid-crystalline complexes containing a carbon–metal σ-bond and a tertiary phosphine co-ordinated to a transition metal.
