IN THE past several years series capacitors for the compensation of line drop in power circuits have found increasing use, <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">1–9</sup> because improved and automatic voltage regulation can, in many cases, be obtained more economically by this method than by any other means.
