Abstract

Abstract The selective hydration of nitriles to yield anides is a synthetically useful reaction1. This transformation has been brought about by varius reagents like, for example, mineral acids2, hydrogen halides in alcohols3, alkaline hydrogen peroxide4, alkaline hydrogen peroxide under phase transfer conditions5, sodium super-oxide in DMSO6, basic anion exchange resins7 manganese dioxide8, and complexes containing transition metals9 and noble metals10.
