Eine einleuchtende Verbindung: Eine neue Klasse von Donor-Akzeptor- Systemen – Carbazolylaryl-substituierte ortho-Carborane – wurde aus den entsprechenden Acetylenen und Decaboran hergestellt. Sie zeigen ein ungewöhnliches Verhalten der angeregten Zustände, indem sie, anders als die entsprechenden para- und meta-Verbindungen, Elektronentransfers eingehen (siehe Bild).
