Abstract

CONTEXT AND CONTENT. Familial designation of twotoed sloths (Choloepus) has been problematic, and they have historicall y been placed with three-toed sloths (Bradypus) in the Bradypodidae or alone in the Choloepidae. Most workers now agree that Choloepus belongs in the Megalonychid ae, formerly a family with only extinct members Consequ entl y, tradit ional groupin gs of extin ct "ground" sloths and extant "tree"
