The long-awaited second edition of Kabat and Mayer's book has now appeared. It has actually been rewritten by Kabat, with a long and highly-detailed chapter on complement and complement fixation (and one on the Kjeldahl nitrogen method) by Mayer. Since the first edition appeared in 1948, the science of immunochemistry, as a specialized approach to immunology, has progressed enormously and developed many areas of subspecialty.
