Abstract

Site evaluations are commonly envisioned as engineering studies. Geomorphologists, however, add the critical dimension of extended time to such work by combining process studies with rational geologic synthesis. This is the undercurrent, expressed in A.G. Everett's lead‐off paper, which runs throughout Applied Geomorphology . A collection of articles presented at the 11th Annual ‘Binghamton’ Symposium (Kent State University, Ohio, October 2–5, 1980), this book provides a ‘sampler’ of the topics, objectives, and techniques found in environmental geomorphic research. The editors, Richard Craig and Jesse Kraft, have done a commendable job of selecting authors working in a large number of geomorphic systems.
