The preparation of pyridine derivatives from halogenopyridines by means of the grignard reaction V. Application of the reaction to 3‐bromopyridine

Abstract

Abstract Improved directions are given for the preparation of an ethereal solution of 3‐pyridylmagnesium bromide. Starting from this compound, the following pyridine derivatives are prepared: 1‐(pyridyl‐3)‐heptene‐1, methyl‐(pyridyl‐3)‐ketone, (pyridyl‐3)‐methanal acetal, 3‐(pyridyl‐3)‐propene, and 3‐isobutenyl pyridine. By the oxidation of the latter substance, (pyridyl‐3)‐acetone is obtained.
