Glückliche Kombination: Das Katalysatorsystem aus [Ni(cod)2] (cod=1,5-Cyclooctadien) und dem Liganden 4,5-Bis(diphenylphosphanyl)-9,9-dimethylxanthen (Xantphos) wurde zur Synthese von Pyridinen genutzt (siehe Schema).
