Peptidnucleinsäuren mit Thymidin- und 2-Aminopyridin(M)-Nucleobasen bilden stabile und sequenzselektive Dreifachhelices mit doppelsträngiger RNA unter physiologisch relevanten Bedingungen. Die M-modifizierte PNA zeigt einzigartige RNA-Selektivität: Sie hat eine um zwei Größenordnungen höhere Affinität für die doppelsträngigen RNAs als für die analogen DNA-Sequenzen.
