Chrom kommt sich näher: Vier Dichrombis(amidinat)-Komplexe des Typs [Cr2{μ-η2-ArNC(R)NAr}2] haben Metall-Metall-Bindungslängen von nur 1.74 Å, wobei die sterischen Vorgaben der Liganden keine Rolle spielen. DFT-Rechnungen ergaben Cr-Cr-Bindungslängen, die gut mit den experimentellen Werten übereinstimmen, und eine Analyse der elektronischen Strukturen stützt das Vorliegen einer Fünffachbindung zwischen den beiden Chromzentren.
