A contribution to the systematics of the genus Amitermes (Isoptera : Termitidae) in Australia

Abstract

Eight new species of the genus Amitermes, represented by both the soldier and alate castes, and a further 22 new species, represented by the soldier caste only, are described. In addition, further records are given of the distribution and biology of eight rare species previously described, together with descriptions of the hitherto unknown alate castes of four of these species. Keys are given for the identification of both alates and soldiers of the Australian species of Amitermes.
