Abstract

The paper deals with a new idea, proposing how to stabilize the frequency variation by using a Tilted integral derivative controller (TID) in an Automatic Generation control (AGC). To make a successful study on the variation of output power against load demand the technique which is taken into consideration is load frequency control (LFC) by emphasizing on an interconnected power system of two area. Here a Distributed Generation is used in area 1. The Distributed Generation system used here is a wind energy system whose output power is varied in a high range. The changes in output power can be shown in an enhanced way by varying the wind load demand. Here Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm is taken into consideration to ameliorate the gain of a Tilted integral derivative controller (TID). By minimizing a quadratic performance index the objective function, Integral of Time multiplied Absolute Error (ITAE) is put into consideration to ameliorate gains of the controllers. A comparison among the results of PI controller, PID controller and TID controller in a DG system is demonstrated here. The comparison reveals that TID controller gives better dynamic response with respect to other controller on the behalf of minimum overshoot, minimum undershoot, minimum settling time of individual frequency deviation along with power variation in tie line follows by a disturbance. From the simulation result it is clear that TID is more robust and performs in a satisfactory way with the system parameter variation.
