Das teilweise Ausrichten von Molekülen in polaren organischen Solventien für die Messung dipolarer Restkopplungen (RDCs) mit Hochauflösungs-NMR-Spektroskopie gelingt in gestreckten Polyvinylacetat-Gelen. Die Methode öffnet die Tür für die Strukturbestimmung mittels RDCs (z. B. durch DCH-Kopplungen, siehe Bild) für Moleküle, die weder in Wasser noch in unpolaren Solventien löslich sind.
