Pharmacology-Therapeutics As I remarked when I had the privilege of reviewing the last edition of this textbook for this journal, being asked to review<i>Goodman and Gilman's The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics</i>is a lot like being asked to comment on motherhood. "<i>G & G</i>," the Blue Bible of pharmacology (the jacket is an even darker blue than the last edition) is the gold standard and has been for over 50 years. The preface informs us that the new ninth edition "is the first edition of this book that has not been painstakingly edited, word for word, by a member of the Goodman or Gilman family." In keeping with the exploding body of information in pharmacology and biomedicine in general, the textbook contains new subject headings, current information on newer drugs, and even new fields of information compared with the last edition. The eighth edition had four editors; the present
