Eine Kombination aus hohem magnetischem Feld (1 GHz) und ultraschneller Rotation um den magischen Winkel (60 kHz) ermöglicht die einfache NMR-spektroskopische Detektion der Sekundär- und Tertiärstruktur mittelgroßer Proteine. Die Faltung der mikrokristallinen, aus 153 Aminosäuren bestehenden ZnII-beladenen Superoxid-Dismutase (ZnII-SOD) wurde so bestimmt.
