Monodisperse gold–polypyrrole nanocomposites, consisting of a gold nanocrystal surrounded by a shell of polypyrrole, are shown to be stabilized by diblock copolymer micelles. Annealing thin films of the gold–polypyrrole-loaded micelles above the glass transition temperature yields compact gold particles encapsulated by polypyrrole in each micelle (see Figure).
