Hydrogenation of Arenes by Dual Activation: Reduction of Substrates Ranging from Benzene to C₆₀ Fullerene under Ambient Conditions

Abstract

Duales System: Die Titelreaktion gelang durch gleichzeitige Aktivierung von molekularem Wasserstoff und dem aromatischen Substrat durch Pd/C bzw. eine Lewis-saure ionische Flüssigkeit. Selbst Benzol und das C60-Fulleren wurden unter Umgebungsbedingungen hydriert (1 bar H2 bei Raumtemperatur). Ein ionischer Hydrierungsmechanismus (siehe Schema) wird durch die Charakterisierung eines stabilisierten Arenium-Intermediats gestützt.
