Abstract A batch treatment laboratory and flow through pilot plant study was conducted for the oxidation of cyanide wastes by ozonation. Cyanide concentrations amenable to chlorine of 40ppm and 80ppm were destroyed in less than ten minutes. Various flow schemes resulted in 100% ozone utilization with between 1.5 and 3.5 mg/1 ozone required to rapidly oxidize 1.0 mg/1 of cyanide. Data on cyanate degradation rates and reductions in soluble nickel, zinc, copper and iron are also included. Keywords: Ozone Treatment of CyanidePlating Waste TreatmentCyanate treatment
