Chemische Vernetzung wurde für den Aufbau von DNA-Nanostrukturen mit erhöhter thermischer Stabilität eingesetzt. Die thermostabilen DNA-Nanostrukturen wurden dann als modulare Primer in Polymerasekettenreaktionen (PCR; siehe Bild) verwendet, um multifunktionalisierte und verzweigte PCR-Produkte für Mehrfachdetektion und Hydrogel-Bildung zu erzeugen.
