He has since worked in various institutions, including the Indian Institute of Advanced Study at Simla, and is now Associate Professor at Beloit College. Roy has published papers in Kleinian groups, hydrodynamics, differential equations in the complex domain, and special functions. He is also interested in the history of mathematics.
