Experimental Measurements of Equivalent Available Pressure - Lessons Learned

View Video Presentation: https://doi.org/10.2514/6.2022-0833.vid For the past several years, AFRL has been making equivalent available pressure measurements in rotating detonation engines. EAP is currently the leading candidate to make performance measurements in an RDE, allowing comparisons to traditional, steady combustors. This paper goes over the lessons learned and the methodologies developed to make EAP measurements on laboratory-scale RDEs. Sensor placement, measurement uncertainty, and calculation methods are discussed and best practices recommended.
