This article presents a 3-year-old boy who ingested a large dose of thyroxine and developed only a mild illness. From this and previously reported cases, it seems reasonable to expect relatively mild toxicity in children with thyroid poisoning, although desiccated thyroid, due to its triiodothyronine content, may produce acute symptomatology.
