Abstract

Astrophysicists will, of course, refer incessantly to this encyclopaedic volume, to escape the growing scandal of discrepancies between calculations from one country and another ascribable to quantitative differences in recording of identical facts. The general physicist will also learn much from it; he will look up its data on terrestial dimensions, geophysics of elasticity of material and seismic wave-velocity, atmospheric constituents at various heights, absorption spectra of gases, geomagnetism, meteoritics.
