Abstract

Catalytic reactions were carried out with modified ZSM-5 to produce C2-C4 olefins. The catalyst was used in a hydrogen-exchanged form. Reactions were carried out on both unpoisoned and base-poisoned catalysts using methanol, and the effect of catalyst poisoning on C2-C4 olefin selectivity was investigated. Using a quinoline-poisoned catalyst 86.3mol% of C2-C4 olefins was selectively produced. On the basis of these data, further effect of continuous addition of quinoline on C2-C4 selectivity was examined.
