Abstract One component of the effectiveness of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) has been the clinical outcomes that occur as part of the EAP continuum. This study examines the clinical effectiveness of an EAP providing Problem Resolution and Brief Counseling (PRBC) through a pre— and post-treatment clinical assessment. The results suggest that the PRBC produces positive clinical outcomes. In addition, the results suggest that the degree of clinical improvement relates positively to self-reported improvement in work performance.
