3 Abstract: Taxonomic i nvestigation of the f amily Asteraceae (Compositae) growing throughout the Rajshahi division was carried out. A total of 36 species under 29 genera of the f amily Asteraceae were collected and identified. Eight (8) genera of the family Asteraceae are cultivated in the study area w hich included 8 species. A brief t axonomic description of ea ch species is given with local na me and valid name. About the total number of species Ageratum conyzoides, Blumea lacera, Eclipta al ba, Tridax procumbens, Vernonia patula and Xanthium indicum are much populated and f ound i n sandy roadside areas o f R ajshahi, N aogaon, N awabgong, N atore, B ogra and Joypurhat. Mikania cordata is only one climbing species all over the study area and Perthenium hysterophorus is new record for B angladesh.
