Abstract

The goal of this paper is to present the design and analysis of two dimensional (2D), two port, flexible multiple input multiple output (MIMO) sub-6 GHz 5G antenna for wireless applications. The proposed flexible MIMO antenna consists of two antenna arrays deployed along the X-axis with an inverted-U shaped isolating structure deployed between antenna elements and is blueprinted on 0.2mm thick FR-4 substrate. The complete structure has a size of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$52 \times 30\ \text{mm}^{2}$</tex> and is able to generate a wide resonance at 3.35 GHz with impedance bandwidth of 32.18% (3.05-4.22 GHz). Further, the MIMO diversity including gain above 2.8 dBi, efficiency above 78%, envelope correlation coefficient < 0.05 and diversity gain greater than 9.75 dB are achieved. Moreover, to check the flexibility of proposed MIMO antenna, a simulated experiment of bending analysis along X direction is also carried.
