Exemption of lattice collapse in Ni–MnO₂ birnessite regulated by the structural water mobility

Abstract

The lattice collapse occurs in MnO 2 birnessite at high voltage due to the structural water motion, which is exempted in Ni-doped MnO 2 due to a significant decrease in electrostatic repulsion between lattice oxygens.
